If I’m an agent for the buyer, is that a conflict of interest? Is it that the more the buyer pays for the house, the greater my commission?
I don’t think anybody considers it a conflict of interest. Human nature might cause a bad agent to think in those terms but there are strict ethical considerations that go into this, and every agent is responsible for acting ethically.
If they don’t act ethically, they can be taken to the Department of Insurance, Division of Real Estate, and a complaint can be filed against them. So, hopefully, the answer to that is, no, there isn’t a conflict of interest, but certainly human nature can take hold.
