If you are reporting a nonviolent crime that you intend to commit, or a crime that you’ve committed in the past that’s perhaps of a monetary nature, such as secreting money away, the attorney will process this information at the very beginning because we are required to give full and fair disclosure of assets and liability.
For example, if you have told the attorney that you have a safe deposit box with $20,000 in it, as an officer of the court, the attorney is required to have you identify that asset for the court.
Q: What’s the process for finding out about secret bank accounts?
Lawyers who are good at finding secret money make it a point to go after it in any case where they see that open door that says go through this door. Over the past 26 years, I’ve been pretty fortunate being able to find the money that’s been hidden, even to the point that one time and this one was about 21 years ago, I found over $35,000 in the trunk of a car. If you go on the hunt, sometimes you can find the money.
