kid-is-not-my-son Harriet (an unemployed homemaker spouse) and Greg have been married for 9 years, with 3 children ages 1, 5 and 7. Harriet has decided that she is in love with Robert (who just happens to live down the street), and since she has been having an affair with Robert for the past 2 years, she is ready to leave Greg and be with Robert.
Harriet tells Greg that she is unhappy and that she wants to terminate the marriage. Greg is shocked and never saw this coming. He is an executive at one of the large companies in Ohio, and with that job, he had to travel and/or work late into the evenings…but he never saw that Harriet was unhappy. In fact, they still had their “date nights”, they still went to neighborhood parties together, and they were still intimate.
Harriet stays silent about the reason WHY she wants to terminate the marriage, that being Robert.
Harriet goes to her downtown attorney and discusses spousal support, child support, allocation of debt and division of all of the assets, including her husband’s pension and 401K and stock plan. She learns that spousal support will continue for about 3 or 4 years (since it is a short term marriage), and that child support for the three children will continue until the children are no longer in high school, or otherwise emancipated. The amount of money for the child support is a large amount, because of two things (1) she has three children; and (2) Greg makes A LOT of money.
What does Harriet forget to tell her attorney? Hmmm…..maybe the fact that the one year old is possibly NOT the child of Greg!!
So, fast forward 2 years later….Greg is still paying his support payments to Harriet. But the now 3 year old oddly doesn’t look anything like Greg, but looks A LOT like Harriet’s new boyfriend, Robert.
Greg needs a good attorney, and the attorneys at Joseph & Joseph & Hanna, Co. LPA are ready to consult on this very difficult matter.
