An “annulment” voids out a marriage, meaning that in the eyes of the law, the parties were never married to begin with.
In Ohio, we have several grounds for annulment, and they include: one party is under age; one party is already legally married to someone else; one party was incompetent; fraud; marriage by force (“shotgun marriage”); or failure to consummate the marriage.
Annulments are not hard to get when the circumstances allow it, but they are unusual. Most people who get married don’t try to end it by annulment.
